From Kettlewell leave village on road near Kings Head on right hand side of stream- after 1/4 mile road runs out and cross to footpath on opposite bank and proceed up Dowber Gill to Providence Pot- climb steeply out of Dowber Gill and up the slopes Great Whernside and the summit trig point in clump of rocks.
Follow crest of Great Whernside to meet the wall. Bear sharp left and proceed downhill to cross stile after 1/4 mile - descend steeply and after 1/2 mile cross over the minor Kettlewell to Coverdale road. Take a direct line across open moorland towards Buckden Pike eventually meeting a fence - follow the fence/wall for 3 miles to reach the Polish war memorial and then summit of Buckden Pike.
