Moortop Farm (from Kettlewell to Starbotton path) Footpath along riverside near Kettlewell

From Kettlewell car park proceed across the road bridge. Turn right through the left hand gate and follow the stony farm track to the right climbing slightly uphill alongside a wall. The track zig -zags and climbs steeply and after a level section emerges at Moor Top Farm (now an outward bound centre). Enter the farmyard and proceed to the left of the farm house and through a field. After a gate bear right looking for opening in wall and cross a further field diagonally. Pass through a gate and the path starts to descend towards Starbotton through  woods (look for Orchids on bank in May/June).

If visiting Starbotton cross the footbridge and follow bridleway into the village. The Fox and Hounds is recommended but generally only open at lunchtimes so advisable to check in advance..  Leave pub and retrace steps across the river. Cross bridge and turn left.

If taking the direct route back to Kettlewell follow distinct path on the right hand river bank. The return walk is easy emerging back at the road bridge and the carpark

The facilities in Kettlewell are excellent including 3 pubs Bluebell, Racehorse and Kings head and at least 2 tea rooms
