Travel Information:

Train services - Normal morning (Mon -Sat) departure is the Leeds 0849 and 0900 (Sunday). There are various return services to Skipton, Gargrave, Hellifield, Long Preston, Settle and Gigglewick. www.northernrailway.co.uk- Leeds-Settle-Carlisle timetable - National Rail enquiries Tel 08457 484950

Settle Carlisle Partnership a useful website run by the Settle Carlisle Development Company. Also, the Friends of the Settle and Carlisle Line have their own website. This cover the historical facts as well as other useful information on guided walks etc. The Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line have two shops located on Settle and Appleby Stations.

Buses:-There are several useful bus services serving Settle. See www.dalesbus.org for service updates.

  • Service no 75 runs Skipton - Malham on Saturdays [Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire]
  • DalesBus service No 864 runs Ilkley to Skipton and Malham on Sundays and BHM
  • DalesBus service No 866 runs Keighley Skipton Malham on summer Sundays and BHM
  • Service No 580 runs Monday to Saturday from Skipton to Settle via Gargrave [Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire]
  • Service No 581 runs Monday to Saturday from Settle, Austwick, Clapham to Kirkby Lonsdale and Lancaster [Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire]
  • A council run minibus service No 210/211 runs between Skipton - Gargrave and Malham on Monday to Fridays - note that this has limited capacity
  • A council run minibus service No 11 runs between Horton - Helwith Bridge - Settle - Tosside - Slaidburn - Clitheroe on Monday to Saturdays - note that this has limited capacity
  • Note Dalesbus service 881 from Settle to Malham will not run in 2024

Weather: The weather forecast and current weather conditions (including cloud level) can be obtained from Metcheck which gives the forecast and current conditions for the nearby Whernside range of hills. Also see Ribblehead weather station up to the minute status of the local weather at nearby Ribblehead. Another useful forecast service for the Yorkshire Dales is provided by the Met Office
